Net als in het andere boek weet Travis Baldree weer een heerlijke cozy fantasy neer te zetten. Ben je een (TT)RPG-speler, dan zal je een tal van bekende wezens tegenkomen. De setting, die aandoet als een gemoedelijk D&D met low stakes vond ik heerlijk om te lezen. Ik ben namelijk vooral dol op het rollenspelelement van dit soort spellen. Dat het in boekvorm is, maakt het extra leuk. Vooral als dit boek zich voornamelijk afspeelt in een boekwinkel!
Ik heb genoten van het verhaal en de setting, maar vooral van Viv. Met dit boek krijg je namelijk heel wat verdieping van haar persoonlijkheid, wat extra knap is gezien dit boek zich afspeelt voor L&L. Des te leuker is het dat bepaalde keuzes die Viv in dat boek maakt, zijn beïnvloed door wat er in dit boek gebeurd is. Dat is knap.
Eerlijk is eerlijk, ik was een beetje bang dat dit boek geforceerd zou aanvoelen, want L&L leek echt te zijn geschreven alsof Baldree heel veel lol had en vooral geen richtlijnen. Gelukkig bleek mijn angst onterecht en was Bookshops & Bonedust vooral heel erg genieten.
