In Schotland kocht ik een flinke stapel boeken, waaronder het nieuwe boek van Scarlett St. Clair. Ik vond de andere boeken die ik van haar heb gelezen erg leuk, en dit boek – waarin Lilith de hoofdrol speelt – sprak me erg aan. Ook de worldbuilding die werd beschreven trok me wel. En het bleek geen slechte aanschaf!
Waar ik me de laatste tijd af en toe door wat boeken heen moest worstelen, vloog ik als het ware door dit boek heen. Wat vond ik het heerlijk geschreven. Spannend, een vleugje spice, een fijne setting en een kick-ass hoofdpersonage.
Hoewel een groot deel van het boek vooral introductie voor deze nieuwe wereld en diens inwoners lijkt te zijn, heb ik me er geen moment aan gestoord. Ik vond het heerlijk vlot geschreven en zat er vanaf het begin meteen in. De personages waren leuk en hun chemie onderling ook. Hierdoor voelde het boek heel levendig.
Net als bij veel van St. Clairs andere boeken, is het einde ook weer en en al spanning en sensatie, waarin de plot in een stroomversnelling komt en er grootse dingen gebeuren. Ik heb gesmuld en ik kan niet wachten tot het vervolg verschijnt!
