Criminal minds goes dark romance (met een vleugje occult).
2025 is echt een beetje mijn dark romance en romantasy era, dus toen een vriend begon over deze luisterboeken, dook ik in het konijnenhol en voor ik het wist had ik de complete trilogie geluisterd.
Deze serie gaat over de profiler Halen, die opgeroepen wordt om licht te werpen op een nogal bijzondere zaak. Daarbij komt ze in contact met Kallum, een professor Occulte zaken die ook meewerkt aan de zaak. Zij denkt echter dat hij de zieke geest is die dit allemaal heeft veroorzaakt. Toch trekken ze elkaar aan als magneten. Wetende dat dit verkeerd af gaat lopen voor beiden.
Lovely Bad Things is duister. De romance is duister, de moorden zijn grafisch en gruwelijk. En het was verslavend. Was het geweldig en goed? Weet ik niet, maar op een of andere manier wist het me te grijpen. Nu hielp het ook wel dat het echt een duet was, waardoor het meer was dan iemand die een verhaal voorleest.
Uiteindelijk vind ik alles heel goed in elkaar zitten. Lovely bad things (en de vervolgen) is spannend, bevat veel spicy scenes en heeft zowaar ook echt een werkend plot. Iets wat niet elke dark romance lukt, zeg maar.
Wil je een duistere en vooral spicy Criminal minds lezen met behoorlijk wat zieke en occulte twists? Probeer deze dan even. Niet geschikt voor jonge lezers, want het boek bevat op allerlei vlakken expliciete thema’s. Ook zitten er veel thema’s in die kunnen triggeren.
