Reden genoeg dus om zijn biografie te willen lezen. Het is namelijk niet niks: acteur zijn van een van de grootste fandoms. Het moet pittig zijn geweest om van relatief onbekende tieneracteur te veranderen in een jongere die niet veilig over straat kan. Vanwege de populariteit van de films, maar ook omdat je een pestkop speelt en sommige mensen nu eenmaal geen fictie van werkelijkheid kunnen onderscheiden.

Beyond the wand is een fijn geschreven boek. Het voelt alsof Tom naast je op de bank zit (i wish) om zijn leven met je te delen. Hierbij stelt hij zich kwetsbaar op en maakt hij dingen niet mooier dan ze zijn. Sommige zaken zijn rauw en heftig en zo heeft hij ze ook beschreven.
